"I am running to represent you in Kalamazoo for County Commissioner! Because I am passionate about our community and want to do my part to ensure it has a healthy future." - Valarie Cunningham
I am a daughter, sister, friend, mother, wife and a faith leader. I am she! I am deeply passionate about Kalamazoo County as it holds many foundational memories and monumental experiences for me. It is a place of my high school and college graduations, it is the place where I met my husband and started a family, it is the place where we purchased our first home together, it is the place where all of my children graduated from Kalamazoo Public schools, it is the place where I do business, and the place I own and run my business. And most recently it is the place that my first grandchild was born. Kalamazoo is that place for me, I love Kalamazoo!
My husband, Daniel Cunningham and I have been married for 28 years. Together, we have three young adult children, Phillip, Valorian and Danielle and our grandson Rayden. We are excited to be on the next leg of this journey. Without a doubt, my strong commitment to my family and faith carries over into my desire to improve the quality of life of others and especially citizens of Kalamazoo County.
For over 17 years, I have been a business owner in the field of mental health and substance abuse. My motto is transforming lives for generations and empowering people for a lifetime. It’s with this same focus and intent that I look forward to serving the citizens of our county.
